ITINERARY:
Day 01: Depart for Kolkata Day 2: Kolkata - SimlipalOn
arrival we will be met at the visitor's lounge and transferred to the hotel
for wash and change facilities. This morning we will take a ferry tour on
the Holy Ganges. Later in the day, we will proceed to the railway station in
time to connect our train to Balasore. On arrival in Balasore we will be met
and transferred by road to our rest house in Simlipal (3-hour drive). We
will stay at the rest house for two nights.
Day 3: Simlipal
We will go on jeep safaris into the Simlipal National Park.
Day
4: Simlipal - Kolkata - SunderbansWe have an early start this
morning to Balasore to reach there in time to connect our train to Kolkata.
On arrival, we will transfer to a hotel to freshen up. Later, we will drive
to Sonakhali to board our semi-luxurious boat to Sunderban Tiger Reserve,
arriving there later in the evening. We will spend two nights on the boat.
Day
5: Sunderban Tiger ReserveThis morning we will cruise to Sajnekhali
watchtower for a panoramic view of the forest as also some of the creeks and
water holes of Sunderbans. We will anchor the boat for the day after
spending some time at the watchtower. Evening is at leisure.
Day
6: Sunderban Tiger Reserve -KolkataAfter a cruise in the morning in
search of birds and mammals, we will cruise back to Sonakhali. On arrival at
Sonakhali jetty, we will transfer by road to Kolkata. We will stay in
Kolkata overnight.
Day
7: Kolkata - Gorumara National ParkWe will fly to Bagdogra this
morning. On arrival in Bagdogra, we will be met and transferred by road to
Gorumara National Park (75 kilometres; 2-hour drive) for one night.
Day
8: Gorumara National Park - LoleygaonWe will take a safari to the
core area of Gorumara National Park in the morning. In the afternoon, we
will proceed to Loleygaon.
Day 9: Loleygaon - RishyapThis
morning we will drive to Rishyap (2-hour drive). On arrival we will go on a
birding tour in Rishyap.
Day 10: Rishyap - DarjeelingThis
morning we will go for birding near Lava. We will drive to Darjeeling later
in the day (3-4 hours drive). On arrival at Darjeeling, we will check into
our hotel for the night. After freshening up, we will proceed for a birding
around the Darjeeling Zoo.
Day 11: Darjeeling - SandakphuAfter
a birding in the morning, we will drive to Sandakhphu Summit (3636 metres;
2-hour drive), birding at different spots enroute. On arrival in Sandakhphu,
we will check into the resort for the overnight stay.
Day 12:
Sandakphu - TongluWe will bird around the summit area. We will also
have the opportunity to view the sunrise along the Kanchenjanga and Everest
peaks. Later we will drive to Tonglu (4-hour drive), stopping for birding on
our way. We will stay at Tonglu for the night.
Day 13: Tonglu -
KolkataWe will drive back to Bagdogra this morning (4-5 hours
drive) in time to connect the flight to Kolkata. We will be met on arrival
and transferred to our hotel for overnight stay.
Day 14:
Kolkata - Onward destinationWe will transfer to the international
airport in time to connect the flight to our onward destination.
